SINOPSE IN ENGLISH: The mysterious and delicious Jeremy Yuen stars as DJ Sabu in Noam Gonick's first feature, a sexy raver fairy tale about an apocalyptic flood that'll be triggered when Sabu completes his mission to fornicate with 2000 men. He divides his time between devising a colossal rave on Garbage Hill, spinning at an outdoor porn shop, and thwarting the rambunctious Winnipeg residents from foiling his mission. As he gets closer to his goal, he sets his sights on Happy, a good looking geek who communicates with aliens through a transistor radio he wears around his neck. Life appears as deliberate and ephemeral as the sight of trains moving through Gonick's landscape. In fact, it's not so poetic. The self-described "biggest bitch in the world," Spanky, wants Happy for himself and pursues him voraciously, eventually holding him hostage in a bizarre and boisterous gross-out scene inspired by voodoo. Shot on the praries and industrial wastelands of Winnepeg, a place that boasts the most sunshine and coldest temperatures in Canada, HEY, HAPPY! is a kinky fantasy that fuses the camp of John Waters with the surrealistic hipness of Raoul Ruiz. This film was screened as part of the Eighth Annual New York Underground Film Festival at New York City's Anthology Film Archives.
